Guantanamo closed.

I like to watch SBS at times, but mind you, I also feel it can be a bit one-sided in its views...and it aint the side of politics I am on....As long as none of the released detainees are sent here I will be happy. Australia is NO LONGER the scrap heap for unwanted criminals and sexual perverts.

****I would like to see Sheriff Joe, run another Tent City to confine “suspected terrorists” and those who are proven terrorists. See how many rights they get afforded to them then….And dontcha ya just love the story about the Transexuals in Iran.... Homosexuals are killed but Transexuals get their half their operations paid for by...Now this I do not understand...but with AhMadinejad running the place, I should not be surprised.

Guantanamo Double TONIGHT Tuesday 26 May
One of President Obama’s first actions was to order the closure of the Guantanamo Bay detention facilities and ban the use of torture. So what really went on under the Bush administration’s War on Terror?

8.30pm — Cutting Edge: The Torture Hunter
10pm — Michael Winterbottom’s The Road To Guantanamo
Manfred Nowak is a special UN appointee given the mission of hunting down and fighting torture. Survivors from China, Zimbabwe and Moldova tell their stories of the torture used to create fear and obtain confessions — true or false.
The Road To Guantanamo is the terrifying first-hand account of the “Tipton Three”: three British citizens who were held for two years without charges in the American military prison at Guantanamo Bay. No formal charges were ever made against them at any time during their ordeal. Winner of the Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Transexuals in Iran
Today, Iran carries out more sex change operations than any other nation in the world except for Thailand. The government even provides up to half the cost and a sex change is recognised on birth certificates. Homosexuality however remains punishable by death.
