The Settlement Myth.

As my learning takes me to most things ISRAEL and JUDAISM I came across quite a few really good websites. And this is one (part)of the lessons I have learned today.

THE SETTLEMENT MYTH.

For generations, Palestinian leadership chose destitution and despair rather than accept any settlement not accompanied by the extinction of Israel.

by Charles Krauthammer
An admirable sentiment. It applies to everyone -- Iran, Russia, Cuba, Syria, even Venezuela. Except Israel. Israel is ordered to freeze all settlement activity. As Secretary of State Hillary Clinton imperiously explained the diktat: "a stop to settlements -- not some settlements, not outposts, not natural-growth exceptions."
In his much-heralded "Muslim world" address in Cairo yesterday, Obama declared that the Palestinian people's "situation" is "intolerable." Indeed it is, the result of 60 years of Palestinian leadership that gave its people corruption, tyranny, religious intolerance and forced militarization; leadership that for three generations rejected every offer of independence and dignity, choosing destitution and despair rather than accept any settlement not accompanied by the extinction of Israel.

AND FOR A BIT OF HISTORY that I found very interesting.

The Jews In Australia.

http://www.naa.gov.au/naaresources/publications/research_gui... - 22k

The arrival of Yiddish-speaking ‘yokels’ was viewed with concern by vocal sections of both the wider community and the Anglo-Australian Jewish establishment. The Jewish community feared that the migrants’ distinctive dress and manners, non-conformist appearance, poverty and obvious ‘foreignness’ might adversely affect its own standing.
The fears were not unfounded. John Levi has maintained that antisemitism was ‘a strident characteristic of the incipient Australian nationalism of the late 19th century’, lasting well into the 20th century.[10] Sections of the labour movement promoted stereotypes of Jews as manipulative bankers, usurers and profiteers while, at the turn of the century, the Bulletin claimed that the Boer War had been precipitated by Jews for their own (financial) ends. Humphrey McQueen has speculated that the ‘White Australia’ lobbying which resulted in the anti-Asian Immigration Restriction Act of 1901, was, in part, a reaction to a rumoured influx of Russian Jews.[11]
As a result of their concerns, Australian Anglo-Jews consciously developed a policy of non-distinctiveness, encouraging the playing down of cultural or religious practices which might render them ‘odd’ or ‘obvious’ in the eyes of their gentile peers. They emphasised their fervent loyalty and attachment to King and Country and, in many instances, actively distanced themselves from their less fortunate ‘foreign’ co-religionists. As Hilary Rubinstein has written of the Anglo-oriented majority:
Not unexpectedly, the waves of immigration were greeted with mixed emotions by both the Jewish establishment and the wider Australian public, and the immigrants found themselves forced to contend with often less than flexible Federal Government policy. Some found themselves under surveillance as ‘enemy aliens’. Ultimately, however, the immigrants – arriving en masse – had a significant impact on, and in time transformed and revitalised, the remote and insular Jewish community. As Suzanne Rutland has pointed out:

Obama's Settlement Obsession: In a recent public opinion survey of likely American voters participants were asked: Do you think that if the Palestinians were given their own state in the West Bank and Gaza they would live peacefully with Israel or continue their campaign... (read more)

(The following 2 statements are parts of some of the comments for this story.)
This man and his dangerous ME policy will soon plunge this region into another war if he has his way. Noel Nitzarim is correct when he said that Obama is clueless.
When Obama speaks to the Arab world, his middle name comes into play and when he speaks to the rest of the world including the USA he uses his first.

President Obama does not have a clue what is really going on in the Middle east. His contention about Jerusalem is way off base.

Israel Today

With my quest to learn about Israel, and some helpful suggestions from the crowd at FaceBook, and my trawling around different sites I came across one that I know is going to furnish me with a lot of information. So now I do not think I am going to have to spend so much time at the Library...instead I can see me sitting here infront of my PC for as long as my back will allow me.
Israel Today allows re-posting of articles with credit given to them, so that is no hardship.

About Israel today
http://www.israeltoday.co.il

I have also added a link to my blogroll, and I have signed up for newsletters. I would have liked to subscribe to the magazine but funds are against me at the moment. Nevertheless, they have many, many articles I can read and the ones I have read present a fair and balanced view.

So as I gradually read the articles, and questions on a subject come to me, I will write them down and ask in the forums on FB, I know I will get answers.

Journey to Israel.

I am on a mission to learn about Israel. I have had some very helpful suggestions from FBook...Thanks Guys. I just want to really learn...well try to learn and understand... what it's all about. Why are so many countries turning against Israel as mention further in this article? Now Hussein is turning against Israel by wanting to confront 'Her' Prime Misnister. I would give just about anything to go on this upcoming tour to Israel, but unfortunately, it is just not possible financially. But I can and I will be making full use of my library. Learning from a few books that have been suggested as a place for me to start. I can't go on saying I support the cause without at least knowing some of the history - apart from Bible History and Christian stories I have read.

HAPPY PASSOVER -- AND AN EPICENTER CONFERENCE UPDATE

* Come with us to Israel and stand with the Jewish people
By Joel C. Rosenberg (Washington, D.C., April 8, 2009) --

"I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage." (Exodus 20:2)

Lynn and the boys and I are celebrating Passover this year with our Joshua Fund team. As we do, we are rejoicing over how the Lord has delivered the Jewish people through so many trials in recent decades, and how He has miraculously and prophetically resurrected the State of Israel, as He had promised in the Scriptures to do in the "last days" of human history. We are also praying for the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob to deliver the children of Israel from rising new threats - this time from Iran and Radical Islam, not the Pharoah of Egypt.

Many nations around the world are turning against Israel at present. The Turkish Prime Minister recently called for Israel to be banned from the U.N. A Spanish court is considering trying Israeli military officials on "war crimes" charges for defending Israel from Hamas rocket attacks. Boycotts of Israeli goods and services are being called for around the world. And now comes this headline in a leading Israeli newspaper: "Obama team readying for confrontation with Netanyahu."

That said, we are not worried. The Lord who has been so faithful to the Jewish people from time immemorial will show His mighty hand once again. That was the theme of this year's Epicenter Conference, that we serve a great and mighty God, a prayer-hearing and a prayer-answering God, a God who loves Israel and will bless her. In my "State of the Epicenter" address on Saturday, I spoke from the Book of Esther about another time in history when the leader of Iran/Persia (King Xerxes) called for the annihilation of the Jewish people. It seemed hopeless. But as the Jews who really loved the Lord fasted and prayed and turned their hearts towards Him, the Lord heard their cries and sent a great deliverance through one man (Mordechai) and one woman (Hadassah/Esther) willing to serve Him even unto death. Will He not provide such a great deliverance again, as we turn our hearts towards Him and seek His face and ask Him to forgive us and heal us and draw us close to His heart?

We believe the Iran crisis provides a tremendous opportunity for the Church to stand with Israel and bless Israel and see the God of Israel do a mighty miracle. The Joshua Fund team, therefore, is committed to doing everything we possibly can to educate Christians around the world and mobilize a global movement of people who will bless Israel and her neighbors in the name of Jesus. This November 5-17, we will be a leading a Joshua Fund "Prayer & Vision Trip" to Israel, concluding with our first-ever "Jerusalem Prayer Summit." We would love to have you join us for this extraordinary opportunity to walk the land that Jesus walked, learn the history and the prophetic future of the Holy Land, meet Israeli pastors and Joshua Fund allies, and see how powerfully the God of Israel is moving today. Please pray about it and then, if the Lord gives you the green light, please join us on what will be an unforgettable experience.

EPICENTER CONFERENCE UPDATE:

* As more data are coming in, it appears that more than 20,000 people participated in person and on-line, not the 13,000 we first reported

* A total of 57 countries had people watching on-line

* A total of 92 churches in the U.S., Canada and Israel showed the conference to their congregations

* You can now pre-order CDs, DVDs and/or MP3s of the conference at www.epicenter09.com

COME TO ISRAEL WITH US IN NOVEMBER
Dear Friends:

It is with great excitement over God's wonderful love and plan for Israel and the people of the epicenter that I invite you to join us for our next Joshua Fund "Prayer & Vision Trip." It will be held November 5-17, 2009, and culminate in our first-ever "Jerusalem Prayer Summit."

If you have never been to the Holy Land, it is hard to describe what a profound spiritual effect such a journey can have on you and your family. You may have heard others say God's Word seemed to "come alive" in a new way when they walked where Jesus walked, from the shores of Galilee to the Mount of Olives and into the streets of Jerusalem. Well, it's true, and I believe our 2009 Israel trip will allow you to experience this for yourself and intensify your desire to walk closely with Jesus Christ.

If you have been to Israel before, this trip will be a great opportunity to deepen your understanding of how powerfully the Lord is moving there. I will teach at key locations and answer your questions about the future of the epicenter. You will have the opportunity to meet with and pray for local pastors and ministry leaders. We are arranging for you to spend time engaged in a practical Joshua Fund ministry project to bless the poor and needy. What's more, you will participate in a two-day conference to pray for the peace of Jerusalem at this critical hour.

We can take up to 300 people, and to make your experience as personal and special as possible, you will be assigned to one of seven buses of about 45 people. Each bus will be hosted by a Joshua Fund staff or board member or couple, or one of our close allies. You will ride that bus with your host every day, and in the process you'll get to know the people on your bus, study the Bible with them, pray with and for them, discover Israel together with them, ask questions with them, and thus form a small community. Lord willing, I will rotate through the buses to get to know you and answer your questions. Each bus will also have a professional, licensed Israeli tour guide who know every detail of the country inside and out.

As always, we will do our best to keep you up-to-date on the kinds of projects we are doing, and brief you on how those projects are proceeding. We will also let you know about the kinds of projects we are developing for the future. In no way do we want to pressure anyone to give financially. We fully believe the Lord will provide for the needs of the people we seek to serve. But if you or others wish to help, we welcome your support, and all financial gifts are tax-deductible.

If you would like to make a contribution to the on-going work of The Joshua Fund please make your check payable to "The Joshua Fund" and send to:

The Joshua Fund
18950 Base Camp Road
Monument, Colorado 80132-8009

Thanks so much and may the Lord richly bless you and your family as you bless Israel and her neighbors in the name of Jesus -- especially at critical moment in history of the epicenter.

Would you consider making a donation of $50, $100 or $500 per month to The Joshua Fund to help us bless Israelis in the name of Jesus? Please click here to find out more, and/or to make a secure donation on-line.

Basic Info

Welcome to Israeli Defense Force on the web, virtual army defending Israel in the information war.

Not all of us are Israelis, not all of are Jewish, but we have one thing in common - we love Israel and protect its good name on the web.

Unfortunately, there are many people who know literally nothing, or very little about Israel, and then they see biased news, hear those who don't like Israel, and the very last thing they hear is what we have to say. This situation has to change, and we are here to change that.

We are here to protect the civilization from hatred and ignorance and to educate those who know little about Israel, and often all that they know about it is not even true.

Israel, we stand with you. We are your web soldiers.

This is from one of my contacts in FACEBOOK. I have added quite a few people from ISRAEL because I support Israel and the horrors they face on a daily basis. I do not know nearly as much as I ought to either, and it is with a sense of shame that I don’t. I suppose I have read the news on Israel & Gaza etc, but I have been somewhat focused on what is happening in the UK & USA & Canada and more importantly, my own back yard, Australia. It is certainly a lot to take in considering I have a life away from the computer and books to read on the subject of terrorism and jihad and islam by noted authors.
Some days there is just not enough time to do all the things I would like to do and time seems to go too darn quickly.
Anyway, have a read of this and go to the links to learn a bit more. Go to the facebook groups to join the cause of supporting Israel and maybe a few others like no more child soldiers.

Recent News
HAMAS TRIES TO CREATE AN IMPRESSION THAT ISRAEL IS ATTACKING CIVILIANS

Here is an interview with a leading specialist in international law Dr. Robbie Sabel, he is a former legal advisor for MFA.

- Is Israeli action in Gaza legitimate?
- Every state has the right of self-defense. That’s what Israel is doing – it is aiming only at military targets and it is acting in accordance with the rules of international law. In any war civilians are liable to be hurt. But Israel has taken extraordinary measures to limit civil casualties by sending warnings before attacking military targets, losing the element of surprise, but enabling civilians to escape from the target before the attack. Even when civilians remain deliberately in military targets, nevertheless, Israel tries to minimize civil casualties. One should add however that Hamas deliberately aims at Israeli civilian targets.

- Is Hamas action against Israel legitimate?
- According to the international law force can only be used in self-defense and only against military targets. Hamas is acting illegally in violation of both of these rules. It has been shelling Israeli civilian towns without any provocation.

- How legitimate was it to eliminate Sheikh Nizan Rayyan?
- In an armed conflict it is legitimate to target enemy military commanders but not civilian leadership. Israel has aimed its attack only against those Hamas leaders who have a command rule in military activities.

- Is it legitimate to bomb Hamas objects situated close to civilian buildings and public places like mosques and schools?
- The rule of international law states that if military target is not immune because it is placed near civilians, the attacking army must take effort to minimize the civilian casualties and to insure that any civilian casualties are proportionate to the military advantage to be gained by destroying the target.

- Is Israeli action in Gaza proportionate?
- Israel takes every possible measure to prevent disproportionate civilian casualties and in fact in many occasions has stopped military attacks in the middle when it found out that there will be heavy civilian casualties. Israel is one of the few armies in the world that uses legal advisors before attacking in order to make sure that the attack will be legal and that there will be no disproportional civilian casualties.

- Can actions undertaken by Israel in Gaza be referred as Holocaust?
- This is a pure example of propaganda. They themselves admit that 80% of the casualties have been Hamas fighters. This percentage is probably higher because the Hamas tries to create an impression that Israel is attacking civilians.

I noticed that when there are words "truth" and "Gaza" put in one sentence, usually all of it is lies about fake and imaginary Israeli atrocities. I want to change that stereotype and to start to speak up the REAL TRUTH.

Let's make it clear about what is going on in Gaza, what led to this and why it happened. Enough of lies!

Today early in the morning military operation of Israeli Defense Force against Hamas military objects in Gaza has started. A few groups were created in the Facebook that called this action a "Ghaza Holocaust". Without taking in account the moral aspect of calling anything Holocaust (people who call anything that they disagree with "Holocaust" either don't know what they are talking about, or lie) I feel that there is a need to show the truth about what is going on in Gaza today. Here is why:
http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=563757240#/event.php?eid=41717048004&ref=mf
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=41717048004&ref=mf

NOONE is killing Gaza people on purpose, IDF is hunting for HAMAS only and trying to do its work in a most precise way as possible trying not to hit civilian objects or people. And it did succeed to a large extent to do it. Most of the 225 dead reported by now are HAMAS officials, soldiers or policemen.

The operation has started after years of HAMAS shooting at Israeli cities like Sderot, Ashkelon and others - non-military objects. Until this morning the humanitarian supply to Gaza continued in spite of heavy rocket attacks by HAMAS in the last days. On Thursday Israeli prime minister spoke on Palestinian radio and warned once again that Israel would have to take an action if rocket assaults continue. They did. Here is the result - Israel attacks HAMAS military objects and infrastructure related to it.

Even if you don't agree with my view, just take a look at the pictures. They tell better than words.

I call to everyone who cares and for whom it is important to know the truth, spread it to all of your friends. Thank you.

Did Israel Use "Disproportionate Force" in Gaza?

Dore Gold

* Israeli population centers in southern Israel have been the target of over 4,000 rockets, as well as thousands of mortar shells, fired by Hamas and other organizations since 2001. Rocket attacks increased by 500 percent after Israel withdrew completely from the Gaza Strip in August 2005. During an informal six-month lull, some 215 rockets were launched at Israel.

* The charge that Israel uses disproportionate force keeps resurfacing whenever it has to defend its citizens from non-state terrorist organizations and the rocket attacks they perpetuate. From a purely legal perspective, Israel's current military actions in Gaza are on solid ground. According to international law, Israel is not required to calibrate its use of force precisely according to the size and range of the weaponry used against it.

* Ibrahim Barzak and Amy Teibel wrote for the Associated Press on December 28 that most of the 230 Palestinians who were reportedly killed were "security forces," and Palestinian officials said "at least 15 civilians were among the dead." The numbers reported indicate that there was no clear intent to inflict disproportionate collateral civilian casualties. What is critical from the standpoint of international law is that if the attempt has been made "to minimize civilian damage, then even a strike that causes large amounts of damage - but is directed at a target with very large military value - would be lawful."
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081227/ap_on_re_mi_ea/ml_israel_palestinians

* Luis Moreno-Orampo, the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, explained that international humanitarian law and the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court "permit belligerents to carry out proportionate attacks against military objectives, even when it is known that some civilian deaths or injuries will occur." The attack becomes a war crime when it is directed against civilians (which is precisely what Hamas does).

* After 9/11, when the Western alliance united to collectively topple the Taliban regime in Afghanistan, no one compared Afghan casualties in 2001 to the actual numbers that died from al-Qaeda's attack. There clearly is no international expectation that military losses in war should be on a one-to-one basis. To expect Israel to hold back in its use of decisive force against legitimate military targets in Gaza is to condemn it to a long war of attrition with Hamas.

Iran fires test rocket

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran has test-fired a new air-to-surface missile, Iranian media reported Sunday, in the Islamic Republic's latest display of its military capability.
The missile test was carried out despite the offer by the administration of new U.S. President Barack Obama to engage Iran in direct talks if it "unclenches its fist."
A top Iranian military commander last week said that Iranian missiles could now reach Israeli nuclear sites. Iran has often said it has missiles able to reach the Jewish state but had not previously mentioned such specific targets.

Obama and Arab Nations

Durban 2 Conference to test Obama's views of Israel
The Obama administration said late Saturday it would participate in planning a United Nations conference on racism, despite concerns the meeting will be used by Arab nations and others to criticize Israel. Israel is boycotting the conference because a declaration equating Zionism with racism is expected to be made there. In addition, it is expected that the organizers and participants will charge that Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinians, and, like before in Durban, will make anti-Semitic statements. ....................... read more at

Israel.

Hamas is likely to seek to extend its truce with Israel for another six months, Palestinian sources in the Gaza Strip predicted yesterday. The current six-month truce, brokered by Egypt, expires in December. A senior Hamas official told Haaretz that the Islamic group has not yet made a decision on extending the truce. “To date, Israel has not met its commitments regarding the transit of merchandise to the strip,” he said. “Our focus [in talks] with Egypt is currently the issue of reconciliation with Fatah, but it is not inconceivable that the issue of the cease-fire could come up for discussion. If Israel meets its commitments, Hamas will seek to continue the truce.” But other sources in Gaza predicted that Hamas would seek to extend the truce even if Israel does not reopen the border crossings completely, to give it more time to consolidate both its rule in the strip and its political challenge to Fatah. As evidence, they noted that it had recently muted its complaints against Israel over arrests of its operatives in the West Bank - though in part, that is because such arrests are increasingly being carried out by the Palestinian Authority rather than Israel. They added that Hamas has no interest in opening a front with Israel as long as its relationship with Fatah remains unsettled.

" Hamas is likely to seek to extend its truce with Israel for another six months,".....

is this so they can gather some strength?.... there is NO truce to be had with terrorists....
