I have decided that I am going to start including "something nice" from now on. After I have my rants and raves, I will then post some... poem, saying, Psalm, prayer, whatever. As long as it will keep me grounded. I read so much doom and gloom and trouble and strife from around the world, and as important as it is, I don't want to lose sight of why we are fighting this global threat called islam. When all is said and done, I want us to still have a sense of belonging, a sense of unity, a sense of why we have endured everything, so then any children in our midst can go forward with hope in their hearts, and knowledge in their heads, and a sense of right and wrong. Without that, then what is the purpose of defending our way of life, our principles, our ethics, our choice of religion...or not, our freedoms to choose, our lands, our people, our countries?
Anyway, here is something that I have read before and came across again recently. It was posted by...VJ...from one of the msn groups I am a member of.
TWO FRIENDS WERE WALKING THROUGH THE DESERT.
DURING SOME POINT OF THE JOURNEY, THEY HAD AN ARGUMENT; AND ONE FRIEND
SLAPPED THE OTHER ONE IN THE FACE.
THE ONE WHO GOT SLAPPED WAS HURT, BUT WITHOUT SAYING ANYTHING, WROTE IN THE SAND:
TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE.
THEY KEPT ON WALKING, UNTIL THEY FOUND AN OASIS, WHERE THEY DECIDED TO TAKE A BATH
THE ONE WHO HAD BEEN SLAPPED GOT STUCK IN THE MIRE ! AND STARTED DROWNING, BUT THE FRIEND SAVED HIM.
AFTER HE RECOVERED FROM THE NEAR DROWNING,HE WROTE ON A STONE:
'TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE '.
THE FRIEND WHO HAD SLAPPED AND SAVED HIS BEST FRIEND ASKED HIM, 'AFTER I HURT YOU, YOU WROTE IN THE SAND AND NOW, YOU WRITE ON A STONE, WHY?'
THE FRIEND REPLIED 'WHEN SOMEONE HURTS US WE SHOULD WRITE I T DOWN IN SAND, WHERE WINDS OF FORGIVENESS CAN ERASE IT AWAY.
BUT, WHEN SOMEONE DOES SOMETHING GOOD FOR US,WE MUST ENGRAVE IT IN STONE WHERE NO WIND CAN EVER ERASE IT.'
LEARN TO WRITE YOUR HURTS IN THE SAND AND TO CARVE YOUR BENEFITS IN STONE.
We need more people with that attitude.
